Madiran The Wine Bar - 209 Route 25A, East Setauket, New York 11733 - +1.631.675.2778
Madiran The Wine Bar takes its name from the AOC or wine producing region called Madiran located in the Sud-Ouest, South West France, near the border with Spain and the Pyrenees Mountains.
Madiran wines are always red and are made mainly from the Tannat grape, which produces bold, dark, dry, tannic wines. White wines produced in the same area are known as Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh, which can be made in the dry or sweet style.
Madiran's list features our sommelier's favorite selections from wine regions all around the world, but with a special emphasis on terroir-driven classics from the "Old World" wine regions in Europe, while incorporating esoteric and hard-to-find wines from Europe as well as the New World. Other well-represented regions on our list but often overlooked elsewhere include Gaillac, Montefalco, and Croatia. In addition, our list includes one of Long Island's largest and most diverse selections of orange wine.
Madiran's owner and sommelier, Jacqueline Malenda, received her sommelier certification through the Court of Master Sommeliers at the Culinary Institute of America and is an active member of the Guild of Sommeliers. Jacqueline Malenda's wine industry experience includes time at AP Wine Imports, Lake Side Emotions Wine Boutique, Post Wines & Spirits, and Molto Vino.
